I’m sure you’ve seen Andrew Tate’s content hit social media by storm the last few months.
With his openly controversial content aiming to defend and empower men, his following has skyrocketed.
But why do men gravitate toward his messages so much?
The reason is Andrew speaks to many primal desires in men.
The one that is presented the most is power. A desire that men who have especially gone through trauma in their life want to fulfill more than others.
What does the feelings of power actually do to the mind?
Research has shown that when under the influence of power, the prefrontal cortex is shut down, the part of our brains that produce empathy for others.
But for many men, the feeling of power is better than depression and fear, and according to Henry David Thoreau, “the masses of men live lives of silent desperation.”
In other words, the masses of men live in depression and fear.
So Andrew provides an “escape” from men’s current realities.
An elevation of state from fear, anxiety and apathy, to power, lust, and anger towards perceived injustice in the man.
But even these states are below peace, joy, and love, which is what I believe Andrew seeks to navigate at his core. As do all men.
Many men have never experienced consistent peace joy and love, so they stay in pride, anger, and lust, because it makes them feel alive. It’s better than feeling sorry for themselves. Feeling depressed and afraid.
So these men fight for Andrew, and defend Andrew, someone who can keep them out of their states of depression, anxiety, and fear.
The man who comes above desires of power, is one who has healed his inner wounds.
One who consciously uses his desires for power and lust to serve himself and the world with love.
If lifelong freedom from depression and fear is what we seek, love is the only answer. Power, lust and anger feel good for a time, but only make it harder to get to our ultimate desire, which is lifelong peace.
